Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2008 and produced until 2012, the Golf 6 is first of all a restyled model of the Golf 5. She benefits from a new front inspired by the coupé Scirocco and a dashboard coming from the coupé-cabriolet Eos. Concerning the engine power, the innovation is the conversion of the Tdi blocs to the common rail, to bring more smoothness and the arrival of a bloc 2.0l Tdi of 110hp. Out with the 1.9l Tdi to come back to the 1.6l less gas-gazzler. Reminder of the past, a 'GTD' version is proposed with a 2.0l Tdi of 170hp. The ultra sporting version of the Golf 6, the 'R': swap the previous V6 3.2l for a four cylinder turbocharged 2.0l of 271hp. Equipped with a robotic double clutch gearbox, she reaches 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds. The GTi is available in version 210hp and 235hp for the '35th anniversary' series. In 2011 and after almost 10 years of absence, Volkswagen get back on track its Golf cabriolet with a canvas hood, unlike the coupé-cabriolet Eos. A hint of nostalgia then emerge for the best-selling cabriolet in the world.
