On March 7th, 1966, symbolic date of its 50th anniversary, BMW launched its new model the 1600-2, motorized by the four-cylinders M10 of 1573cc of 85hp. In 1967, at the Frankfurt International Auto Show appeared the 1600-2 also called 1600ti with a power of 105 horsepower against 85hp for the 1600-2. BMW announced the launch of a more powerful version with a twin carburettor in march 1968. So the 2002ti has 120 horsepower. In 1971, a new car body came to enrich the range. The 2002 touring was designed by Giovanni Michelotti, the rear part of the sedan was 12cm shorter and reused the opening system with tailgate for the boot. During the same year, appeared the 1802, a model which remplaced the 2002ti with an engine 2l bringing the power to 130hp. The success of the BMW 1502, 1602, 1802 and 2002 is still phenomenal and continue to captivate the collectors.
