A spare part is also a car that runs, a club that gets together, a Sunday spent comparing engines. Mecatechnic regularly supports associations and event organisers. Vouchers for competition winners, prizes for raffles, historic cars in the brand's colours: a quick tour of the events we took part in during 2020 and 2021.
Fans of air-cooled Volkswagens form one of the closest-knit communities in the classic-car world. In 2020, several shows were able to take place at the end of the summer, and Mecatechnic was a partner of four of them.
For its first edition, the VW Horse Party club gathered its guests in the grounds of a listed château in Touraine. Despite cloudy weather, more than 215 rear-engined Volkswagens made the trip, with around 1,300 visitors and 32 exhibitors. Participants came from all over the Centre region, but also from Île-de-France, Vendée, Brittany and Normandy. Fifteen vehicles were rewarded, and plenty of Mecatechnic vouchers were among the prizes.
For its 4th show, the Flat 4 Mania association welcomed more than 150 vehicles and around 500 visitors under the Provence sun. On the programme: a concert, catering run by a friendly club, relaxing by a lake and activities for the whole family. Ten vehicles were singled out for their beauty. The raffle offered, among other things, a toolbox and Mecatechnic vouchers, valid on all parts, tools and accessories.
The same weekend, the Vierzon Vintage Aircooled association organised the second edition of its show. Around 250 Volkswagens were there, with camping, activities, catering and concerts. A top 10 with many prizes rewarded the finest vehicles. Mecatechnic was among the sponsors.
On the Belgian side, the Radikalbugz association brought together more than 500 classic vehicles from France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. The weekend offered a camping area, a swap-meet (parts exchange market) and a show & shine. A top 10 and a top 5 were organised, with Mecatechnic vouchers among the awards. The success of this first edition led the organisers to announce a follow-up the following year.

A change of atmosphere with a navigation rally: no stopwatch, but a roadbook to follow as precisely as possible. Organised by the Esquelbecq Sport Auto association, this 7th edition, planned for spring, was postponed to 26 September. The 180 km route took mostly small roads through French and Belgian Flanders, in two stages, with a stop facing the North Sea. The Belgian section finally had to be dropped from the route.
Two categories were offered: Leisure (Balade) and Experts. The cars were very varied, each with its own interest. There was even a driver used to regional rallies in a Skoda R5 who lined up at the wheel of a 2CV. In the Experts category, it was a Peugeot 205 GTI that won. The weather didn't help, with violent wind and heavy rain, but almost all entrants started. Mecatechnic contributed to the prizes handed to the winners.

In early July 2020, the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans hosted a track day organised by XP Développement, on the theme of learning and sharing a passion for driving. The field was very eclectic: MGB, TVR, Triumph, Morgan, Ligier and Lamera Cup on the classics and small-series side, Porsche GT3 and GT2, McLaren, Lamborghini and several Ferraris, including two F40s, on the supercar side.
In 2021, the Le Vigeant circuit hosted an "Autos Passion" track day organised by Sport Auto magazine. The field was dominated by the big sports cars: Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, McLaren, Alpine. Two British classics stole the show there: a 1964 MGB and a 1961 TVR, which Mecatechnic was sponsoring at the time on their outings in historic racing, at Spa or the Le Mans Classic.
These two cars carried the brand's colours on their doors. MGB owners will find parts for their roadster on the MGB engines page.
