Retaining clip for the front bonnet seal on a VW Beetle 1303

This plastic/metal fastening clip is specially designed for fitting the front bonnet seal on the Beetle 1303 (models with a curved windscreen). Unlike earlier models, where the seal is slid into a metal groove, the 1303 uses these specific clips that snap directly into the bodywork. Replacing broken, weathered or missing clips is essential to ensure even pressure on the seal and prevent water from seeping into the front boot.

When fitting a new front bonnet seal to your 1303, insert the clips into the groove in the seal before snapping them into the holes in the bodywork. This prevents the new rubber from being stretched or torn.

Check: Align the clip’s tab with the hole in the body panel and press until you hear a slight click, ensuring it is locked in place with no play.
