MEYLE ORIGINAL front wheel bearing kit for Type 3, 68-> MEYLE ORIGINAL Quality

This comprehensive MEYLE ORIGINAL Quality kit contains all the tapered roller bearings (inner and outer) as well as the oil seal required to refurbish one side of the front axle. Specially sized for Type 3 models fitted with ball joint suspension (from model year 1968 onwards), it ensures smooth rotation of the brake drum or disc, eliminates whirring noises when cornering and restores the front suspension’s steering precision.

When replacing the front tapered roller bearing kit, take care never to overtighten the kingpin nut. The ideal adjustment is achieved by tightening the support washer just enough so that it can be moved sideways with the tip of a screwdriver, without applying leverage.

Check: Once the bearing has been greased and the kingpin nut secured with its lock screw or lock washer, turn the disc/drum by hand: rotation must be perfectly smooth, with no axial play felt when you shake the wheel up and down.
