If, when cold, the engine has difficulty starting, runs on 3 cylinders or smokes excessively, it's likely that the spark plugs are no longer supplying sufficient power and need replacing.

It's advisable not to mix brands and to replace all 4 spark plugs at the same time, to avoid causing a glow imbalance.
Also check that the glow relay is working properly, and that the glow plug supply wiring is free from play or signs of wear. Sold individually, 5 required per motor
