Product description

Product description

A classic car deserves a careful wash: vintage paintwork scratches easily and loses its lustre over time. The Mecatechnic bodywork care kit has been designed to protect it: four complementary products, providing everything you need to wash, dry and polish the bodywork without scratching it.

Kit contents

  • MEGUIAR’S Gold Class Gloss Shampoo for bodywork, 500 ml bottle
  • Corded microfibre washing sponge
  • BELGOM Express Car Polish, 500 ml spray bottle
  • BELGOM Luxury 600 gsm microfibre polishing cloth, 40 x 40 cm

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Rinse the car. Start by giving it a thorough rinse with clean water, working from top to bottom, to remove dust and grit. (Rinsing the bodywork reduces the risk of scratches during washing.)
  2. Prepare the car wash. Dilute the Gold Class car wash in a bucket of water according to the dosage indicated on the bottle, then work up a lather with a jet of water.
  3. Wash with a chenille sponge. Work panel by panel, from top to bottom, in straight lines and without applying pressure (avoid circular movements). Rinse the sponge frequently in clean water and finish with the lower sections, which are the dirtiest.
  4. Rinse thoroughly. Rinse the entire car with clean water, ensuring the shampoo does not dry on the paintwork.
  5. Dry without leaving streaks. Unfold the Polish microfibre cloth flat on the panel and pull it gently across the surface, or dab it. Wring it out as soon as it is saturated with water. Dry before the water leaves water marks.
  6. Polish the bodywork. On clean, dry bodywork, spray the express polish onto one panel at a time, spread it out, then polish with a clean, dry side of the microfibre cloth. (Avoid windows, matt plastics and tyres.)

Tips

  • Always wash in the shade and when the bodywork is cool to avoid water marks.
  • If possible, use two buckets: one for soapy water, one for rinsing the sponge.
  • Never reuse a sponge or microfibre cloth that has fallen on the ground: it may have picked up grit.
  • If using a single microfibre cloth, fold it into quarters to have several clean, dry sides for polishing.
  • Wash the microfibre cloth separately, without fabric softener, to preserve its absorbency.
