LOCTITE silicone joint compound black SI 5980 is a highly resistant, flexible, single-component siliconesealant. What makes it special? It offers immediate resistance to low-pressure sealing tests, after application as the product begins to polymerize. It also has excellent resistance to automotive engine oils. This makes it the ideal product for sealing pressed sheet metal housings ( timing gear covers , differential covers, transmission housings, oil pans, etc.) where good resistance to oils is required, as well as the ability to withstand very high gasket movement. Its thixotropic nature prevents it from dripping or migrating after application. It can be used over a temperature range from -55°C to 200°C.
Compatible with metal or plastic surfaces.

Recommendations for use:

- Before applying the product under heavy loads, allow sufficient curing time (7 days minimum) to obtain the best performance.
- Excess product can be easily wiped off with a suitable solvent.
