LOCTITE 518 medium-strength semi-flexible instant flat gasket paste - syringe - 25ml

LOCTITE 518 medium-strength semi-flexible instant flat gasket paste is a single-component, medium-strength red gel acrylic resin that cures when confined in the absence of air between metal surfaces with a small gap (up to 0.25mm). It offers low-pressure resistance immediately after assembly. Its thixotropic nature prevents migration or creep after application to surfaces. LOCTITE 518 has a robust polymerization, not only on active surfaces (e.g. mild steel) but also on passive surfaces such asaluminum with low copper content.
It is tolerant even to slight surface contamination by compounds such as cutting fluids, lubricants, anti-corrosion fluids, temporary protection, surfactant-containing cleaners or corrosion inhibitors. It is ideal for replacing cut gaskets or sealing a joint plane between rigid metal faces and flanges, such as a pre-formed gasket on gearbox and engine hous ings.
This product can be used in a temperature range from -55°C to 150°C.

Recommendations for use:
- For best performance, surfaces must be clean and grease-free.
- The product is designed for joint surfaces with a gap of up to 0.25mm.
- Apply the product as a bead by hand to one of the surfaces.
- A low pressure (<0.05 MPa) can be used to test the seal immediately after assembly and before curing.
- Joint surfaces should be tightened as soon as possible after sealing, to avoid the risk of forming excess thicknesses.
