Between 1979 and 1992, the Transporter T3 was fitted with air-cooled four-cylinder petrol boxers (codes CT, CZ, CU, CV), followed from 1982 by water-cooled “Wasserboxer” units, fed by a Solex carburettor or by Digijet and Digifant injection. On the diesel side, there are the inline four-cylinder CS and KY engines and the 1.6 TD JX, the only factory turbodiesel. Outputs range from 50 to 112 hp.
