MECATECHNIC rear brake distributor for Volkswagen Scirocco 1 type 53 and Scirocco 2 type 53B with drum brakes only:

Scirocco 1 type 53 :
- All models 1.1L to 1.6L from 02/1974 to 03/1981

Scirocco 2 type 53B :
- All models 1.3L to 1.8L 8 valves from 04/1981 to 07/1992

WARNING: Not suitable for Scirocco 2 type 53B 1.8L 16-valve PL and KR engine codes, nor for models with disc brakes!

Located in front of the left rear wheel, the brake distributor (also called compensator or pressure regulator) is used to reduce braking pressure on the rear wheels when the load is transferred to the front or when the trunk is heavily loaded. If the rear wheels are relieved when braking hard, or if the trunk is heavily loaded, there's a risk of the rear wheels locking up and losing braking efficiency. Its valve reduces rear pressure when it becomes too high (preset value) to maintain perfect control and stability of the vehicle.
