Tyre care kit: Autoglym cleaner and polish, brush and applicator pad

Over time, tyres turn grey, become covered in brake dust and lose their shine. The Mecatechnic tyre care kit has been designed to remedy this: three complementary products to clean the sidewalls, remove ingrained grime and restore a neat finish.

Kit contents

• AUTOGLYM tyre cleaner and polish, 500 ml spray
• Blue and white tyre brush
• BILLIONAIRE tyre polish applicator pad

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Rinse the tyres. With the tyres cool and in the shade, rinse with clean water to remove dust and grit. (A hot tyre will cause the product to dry too quickly.)
2. Brush the sidewalls. Using the brush, scrub the sidewall of the tyre with steady movements, paying particular attention to the grey areas and lettering. Rinse with clean water.
3. Dry the tyre. Leave it to dry or wipe it with a clean cloth (not included in the kit). A dry tyre ensures the product adheres properly.
4. Apply the product. Spray the cleaner and polish onto the applicator pad, rather than directly onto the tyre, to avoid splashing onto the rim, paintwork and brakes.
5. Spread in a thin layer. Rub the pad over the tyre sidewall using even strokes across the entire surface. (Avoid the tread, rims and brake discs.)
6. Leave to dry and check. Leave it to work for a few minutes, then wipe off any excess if the tyre looks greasy. The finish should be even.

Tips

• Always work in the shade and on cold tyres to avoid drying marks.
• Never leave any polish on the tread: it must retain its grip.
• Reserve the brush and pad for the tyres only, and rinse them after use to avoid spreading dirt onto the rim.
• For a more matt finish, apply a thin coat. For a glossier effect, apply a second coat once the first is dry.
• Wipe off any splashes on the paintwork or rim immediately.
• Rinse the pad with clean water and leave it to dry before storing it.
