This filter is used for the windshield washer reservoir on many BMW models including :

- Series 1 E81-E88
- Series 3 E36
- Series 3 E46
- Series 3 E90
- Series 5 E39
- Series 5 E60-E61
- X3
- X5

- Z4

Its presence is essential in order to prevent impurities and debris from entering the circuit, which can eventually clog the pipes and nozzles.

It is also found for the headlight washer reservoir using a small electric pump like the windshield washer.
