A near-perfect balance. The E39 combines lively steering, a silky-smooth 6-cylinder engine, and a legendary naturally aspirated M5 V8. Modern without being sterile, comfortable without being soft. Many consider it the last great classic BMW. And for good reason.
Marketed between 1995 and 2003, the 5 Series E39 was considered at the time to be the best production BMW ever designed. It was a real success in terms of design, ergonomics and safety. It was on this model that BMW introduced, among other things, the sequential automatic gearbox, curtain airbags and dual-zone automatic climate control. In terms of engines, the E39 5 Series starts from the same base as its predecessor, with the in-line six-cylinder engines of the 523i and 528i, as well as the 525td and 525tds. The V8s are also carried over to this model (3.5l and 4.4l). The entire range of engines was upgraded and made more powerful with the launch of the second version in 2000, which was produced until 2003. Renowned for its reliability, the BMW E39 still enjoys a very good market value.
