Set of rear wheel bearing seals for the VW Beetle with horn-shaped headlights

This comprehensive kit contains all the seals required to reseal the rear wheel bearing on vehicles fitted with swing half-shafts (trumpet-type axle). Failure of these seals causes gearbox oil to leak down the shaft, contaminating the mounting plate and soaking the rear brake linings. This kit restores a perfect seal between the bearing housing, the ball bearing and the brake drum.

For all models fitted with a swing-arm rear axle (swinging half-shafts).

When replacing the rear bearing seals on a ‘trompettes’ rear axle, ensure that the housing in the brake flange and the wheel shaft are thoroughly cleaned. Do not forget to insert the small O-ring into its groove and to lightly coat the paper seals with oil-resistant sealant to prevent any seepage towards the brake linings.

Check: Ensure that the contact surfaces of the drum and the housing do not have any deep scratches or pronounced signs of wear that could damage the lips of the new oil seal during reassembly.
