Product description

The valve stem seal is a small but crucial component of a car's engine. It is located around the valve stem, between the valve and the valve guide, and serves several important functions

The main role of the valve stem seal is to prevent engine oil from seeping into the combustion chamber. It helps maintain the right amount of oil on the valve stem, while preventing excess oil from mixing with the intake or exhaust air, which could cause blue smoke during acceleration.

The seal helps maintain a film of lubricating oil between the valve stem and its guide to prevent premature wear of these parts.

By preventing oil from entering the combustion chamber, it reduces smoke and particulate emissions, contributing to cleaner engine operation.

If blue smoke comes out of the muffler, particularly during acceleration or when hot, this may be a sign that the valve stem seal is leaking and that oil is being burnt in the combustion chamber.

A defective seal can also lead to a significant loss of engine oil, as the oil flows into the combustion chamber instead of remaining on the valve stem.

Oil leakage can lead to deposits in the combustion chamber, which can disrupt combustion and cause engine misfire.

If one or more seals fail, it's important to replace them quickly to avoid damage to other engine components, such as spark plugs or cylinders.

This 8 or 9 mm valve stemgasket is suitable for intake or exhaust. Sold individually.
