This table lists 24 versions of the E38 7 Series sold from 07/1993 to 07/2001: 21 petrol and 3 diesel, all with a timing chain. On the petrol side, the range runs from the M52B28 inline-six to the M60 and M62 V8s, then the 326 hp M73 V12; on the diesel side, from the 143 hp 725tds to the twin-turbo M67D40 V8 of the 740d. The armoured 750iLS and 750iLP, the Security and Protection versions, are listed as well. Check your E38's engine code before choosing your parts.
