6V to 12V conversion kit with alternator for VOLKSWAGEN Beetle and Combi

Complete conversion kit for upgrading the electrical system from 6 to 12 volts, or for a cost-effective switch from a dynamo to an alternator.

Includes:

- 12-volt / 55-amp alternator

- Belt, clamps and fitting accessories

- 12-volt ignition coil (BOSCH or BERU)

- 12-volt horn, original type

- Indicator / headlight / tail light relay

- Windscreen wiper motor converter

- Voltage step-down unit (resistor) 12V to 6V

- Angled fuel pump + push rod

- Carburettor spacer plate with gaskets

Items to be provided: Bulbs, choke and 12V carburettor choke valve.

The 6V starter motor can be retained or replaced with a 12V model fitted with a 29 mm pinion, or a 25 mm pinion with a 130-tooth flywheel.

Note: If you replace a dynamo with an alternator whilst retaining the original carburettor, the reflow pump cam may come into contact with the alternator housing.

You should therefore fit the VC70530 return pump lever.

For VW Beetle & Van from 08/1960.

With Type 1 engines: 1200, 1300, 1500, 1600cc (except for cast-in-place engines).

During fitting, you may need to align the alternator pulley with the crankshaft pulley. Please remember to order kit VC60011 from us.

Please read carefully:

On some 1200 engines, the position of the alternator bracket makes alignment impossible, even with the washer kit. It will not compensate for misalignment exceeding 5mm; it is essential that you take the necessary precautions before fitting, as we cannot accept returns if there are any signs of fitting.
