Manufactured by LN Engineering, this RND-branded IMS bearing is an upgraded, higher-quality version of the original equipment.
Designed to offer enhanced reliability and optimum durability, it's an ideal solution for extending engine life and extending IMS bearing replacement times.
The use of a roller bearing rather than a ball bearing gives this IMS kit superior strength.
Roller bearings are mainly used in the internal parts of gearboxes, where the balls are replaced by cylinders called rollers , which considerably reduce friction. They also offer other advantages, such as low maintenance and low heat generation.
The RND RS Roller IMS bearing has a recommended service interval of 6 years or 120,000 km,whichever comes first, giving you lasting protection against conventional IMS failures.
This RND cylindrical roller IMS is designed to fit Porsche 986 Boxsters from 1997 to 2001 (check beforehand whether your Porsche is equipped with a single- or double-row IMS: single-row thickness 13.34 mm, double-row 19.27 mm):
- 986 2.5 Boxster - 204 hp (M96.20) from 1997 to 1999- 986 2.7 Boxster - 220 hp (M96.22) from 2000 to 2001- 986 3.2 Boxster S - 252 hp (M96.21) from 2000 to 2001
Some Boxsters and 996s received one or the other (single or double) during the 2000-2001 production period; from May 2001 onwards, all are normally equipped with single-row bearings.
The second row is replaced by a spacer. The roller bearing supports a much higher load than a ball bearing, and therefore does not need to be doubled.
This product must be installed by a professional. The warranty (2 years/40000 km) can only be applied on presentation of an invoice attesting to installation by a qualified professional.
