IMS bearing kit + tools for Porsche Boxster 986 (1997–2004)

Kit comprising installation tools + the IMS bearing (designed for single- or double-row versions) for the Porsche 986 Boxster from 1997 to 2004:

- 986 2.5 Boxster – 204 cv (M96.20) from 1997 to 1999

- 986 2.7 Boxster – 220 cv (M96.22) from 2000 to 2001

- 986 3.2 Boxster S – 252 cv (M96.21) from 2000 to 2002

- 986 2.7 Boxster – 220 cv (M96.22) from 2001 to 2002

- 986 2.7 Boxster – 228 cv (M96.23) from 2003 to 2004

- 986 3.2 Boxster S – 252 cv (M96.21) from 2001 to 2002

- 986 3.2 Boxster S – 260 cv (M96.24) from 2003 to 2004

This bearing, featuring 100% ceramic balls, is stronger than the original. It offers better resistance to friction thanks to a high-temperature grease designed to withstand temperatures of up to 180°C.

Both the bearing lubricant and the housing seal are of the highest quality available for this application, ensuring the reliability of your engine.

To facilitate fitting the bearing and preserve its integrity, it is strongly recommended that you chill it beforehand in a freezer for 2 hours and, in addition, heat (to 120 degrees) the area of the engine block where the IMS will be fitted.

- Original double-row version: Use the 6 mm spacer ring and a closed circlip for securing (see the installation image for the double-row version)

- Original single-row version: Do not use the 6 mm spacer ring. Use an open circlip as a retaining ring

It is also essential to ensure that there is no oil in the intermediate shaft tube before fitting the bearing!

Centrifugal force, combined with residual oil, creates a counterforce that will cause premature bearing failure

This product must be fitted by a professional with the necessary qualifications and experience in working on Porsches; proof of this may be required in the event of a warranty claim. The manufacturer’s warranty will only apply upon presentation of a duly completed form that conclusively rules out any installation error.
