Second generation of the model, the Octavia type 1Z released in 2014 takes up the success of the first version. Still based on an original VW platform, the Germanic DNA is present. The damping is firm and the stability improved. As usual with Skoda, the price, quality and equipment ratio is excellent. It competes directly with the Peugeot 307 or Renault Mégane in the compact segment and competes with the best in the family segment such as the VW Passat or the Ford Mondeo. The engines are being modernized just as much as its equipment. The quieter common-rail 1.6 TDi as well as the high-performance 2.0 TDi complete the range alongside the already well-known and recognized 1.9 TDi. Many gasoline engines are offered with in particular the TSi and TFSi blocks. The RS model is powered either by the 200hp 2.0 TFSi Petrol with direct injection, or by the 170hp 2.0 TDi. The robotic double-clutch mechanical gearbox, DSG, also made its appearance in the catalogue. Sedan and Estate still share sales. A typed off-road version of the Octavia Combi is offered under the name SCOUT, benefiting from all-wheel drive and a raised suspension. Production stops in 2013 to make way for the third generation.
