Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2008 and produced until 2012, the Golf 6 is above all a restyling of the Golf 5. It benefits from a new front inspired by the Scirocco coupé and a dashboard from the Eos coupé-cabriolet.
On the motorization side, the great novelty is the conversion of the TDi blocks to the common rail, to bring more smoothness and the appearance of a 2.0l TDi block of 110hp. Exit the 1.9l TDi to return to the less greedy 1.6l. And a reminder of the past, a GTD version is offered with a 2.0l TDi of 170hp.
The ultra-sporty version of the Golf 6, the R: swaps the previous 3.2l V6 for a 271hp 2.0l 4-cylinder Turbo. Equipped with a robotic double-clutch gearbox, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds.
The GTi will be available in 210hp and 235hp versions for the 35th anniversary series. In 2011 and after almost 10 years of absence, Volkswagen put its Golf cabriolet back on track and gave it a canvas hood, unlike the Eos coupé-cabriolet.
A hint of nostalgia therefore emerges for the best-selling convertible in the world.
