Production of the second generation of the VW Polo (86C) began in 1982. This new version takes up the main aesthetic lines that made the success of the first Polo. Two types of bodywork are then offered: the Polo coach version: by far the best-selling with its mini break design, and the Polo coupé version. On the motorization side, we find the 4-cylinder in-line engine of its predecessor, which adopts for the occasion an electronic injection system, more modern than the carburettors that it replaces on certain models. There are also two diesel engines, the 1.3l and 1.4l. As far as finishes are concerned, the VW Polo also takes a big leap forward and gains in quality. In 1990, the Polo underwent a restyling to afford a second youth and end its career 4 years later. The changes mainly concern the headlights, the front grille and the bumpers.
