This new version, which introduced the new A5 platform, was initially exclusively equipped with four-cylinder engines (ranging from the 1.4-liter with 125 hp to the 2.0-liter with 200 hp). In 2003, it received a 3.2-liter V6 engine with 250 hp, coupled with the S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. This was later replaced in 2006 by a 2.0-liter TFSI engine with 265 hp, which powered the sporty S3 version of the Audi compact car, also introduced in the same year.
In 2004, Audi introduced the A3 Sportback, which is essentially the 5-door version of the Audi A3. Some stylistic details that differentiate it from the 3-door version do not make it an entirely new version: The famous Audi Single Frame grille made its debut, and the taillights were redesigned with a longer style.
In 2008, the Audi A3 received a facelift, including a new grille design, new LED headlights, and integrated turn signals in the side mirrors. The final version of the Audi A3 8P Sport and the most exclusive, the RS3, arrived much later, in 2011. Based on the A3 Sportback, it features Quattro technology and is powered by a 340 hp 5-cylinder TFSI engine! Finally, after nearly 10 years on the market and a facelift, the Audi A3 bid farewell to make way for its successor.
