Spare parts Audi 80

A pivotal sedan in Audi's renewal, the Audi 80 structured the brand's move upmarket with solid construction, efficient front-wheel drive, and, depending on the version, quattro all-wheel drive. Less flashy than the original Quattro, but strategically important, it laid the groundwork for the future A4 and firmly established Audi in the European premium market.

The Audi 80 range, marketed from 1972 to 1995, encompasses 4 versions of this model, known as B1 (1972-1978), B2 (1978-1986), B3 (1986-1991), and B4 (1991-1995).

The success of the first generation is attributed to an excellent blend of comfort, dynamism, and self-stabilizing steering during emergency braking, which perfectly matched the expectations of modern customers at the time. The Audi 80 B1 was replaced by the B2 in 1978. This second version adopted the quattro all-wheel drive in 1984, taken from the coupe of the same name, on all its petrol models from 90 hp onwards.

In the same year, the Audi 90 was introduced, which was actually the name given to the two most luxurious versions of the Audi 80. The third generation of the Audi 80 was launched in 1986 and featured two petrol engines with 90 and 112 hp, as well as a 75 hp diesel engine. It was accompanied by Audi 90 versions with 5-cylinder engines developing up to 170 hp (Audi 90 20V). In 1988, a two-door version of the Audi Coupe was presented. With a reduced wheelbase, a modified rear suspension, and a new front suspension system, it foreshadowed the arrival of the Audi B4. Also, it was from this model that the Audi 80 Cabriolet was launched a year later.

The evolution from the B3 to the B4 version mainly involved chassis improvements, extending the wheelbase by 8 cm, and some relatively subtle aesthetic details. Three sporty versions of this Audi B4 were marketed: the 80 Competition, produced in 2500 units with a 140 hp engine, and the S2 and RS2 versions, developing between 220 hp and 315 hp depending on the model and production year. It is worth noting that the RS2 was prepared by Porsche on the Avant (station wagon) version of the Audi 80.
