The race takes place on the Isle of Man in Great Britain, but also from the name of a model that participated in this race, the NSU TTS, with the NSU brand later merging with Auto Union to give birth to Audi.
The result of a project spanning over 4 years, the design of the Audi TT is one of the most influential of the late 90s. Sold in nearly 169,000 units over 7 years, two engine options were available: the 4-cylinder 1.8L 20V turbo with 150, 180, and 225 HP (Quattro), and a V6 3.2L with 250 HP (the same as in the Golf 4 R32), introduced in early 2003. The TT quickly received a rear trunk spoiler as standard equipment to provide better stability at high speeds due to its shape.
