more rigid chassis, a more assertive design, and a significantly improved perceived quality. The B6 consolidates Audi's credibility in the premium sedan segment. The naturally aspirated V8 S4 versions boast a distinctive character. Audi proves it can combine technology with mechanical refinement.
The Audi A4 B6, launched in 2000, is more qualitative and dynamic than its predecessor. Its perceived quality was enhanced by the use of higher-performance materials. On the other hand, it was criticised for being too dynamic, and more specifically for its suspension, which was judged to be too firm. For the first time, an A4 Cabriolet version was presented in 2002. In terms of engines, the range extended from the 1.6l 102hp to the 3.0l V6 220hp petrol versions, and from the 1.9l TDi 130 to the 2.5l TDi V6 180hp diesel versions. There was also a sporty version, the Audi S4, equipped with the 4.2l 344hp V8. The career of this second version of the Audi A4 was short, as it was replaced in 2004.
