The Audi A6 C5 was introduced in 1997 in its sedan version, while the Avant version (estate) had to wait for one more year.

It distinguished itself from its predecessor and competitors with its arched design, giving Audi an original and premium brand image. There was a wide range of engines available, starting from the 2.0-liter with 130 hp up to the V8 4.2-liter with 300 hp, 340 hp (S6), or 450 hp (RS6 bi-turbo Quattro). Additionally, there were four V6 engines ranging from 165 hp to 250 hp, not to mention the three diesel versions, from the 1.9-liter TDI with 130 hp to the 2.5-liter TDI Quattro with 180 hp. Produced for seven years, the Audi A6 C5 remains a highly respected car, particularly due to its impeccable build quality for its time.
