Details about : New steering box for VOLKSWAGEN Combi Bay Window (1972-1979)

New steering mechanism housing for VW Combi Bay Window from 08/1972 to 07/1979 from chassis no. 2132000001.
A loose steering gear won't give you a safe ride.
Changing it will give you much greater precision when moving around, as well as greater comfort when driving.

Diameter of steering unit output shaft on steering arm: 24 mm

Please note that the steering box on Bay Window models 08/1967 and 07/1972 with a 20 mm output shaft on the steering arm is no longer available. This housing is sometimes fitted for 1973.
Check before you buy!

Please note that the steering box can be delivered without the arm fixing nut, so for the chassis interval from n°2132000001 to n°2132195235, you won't be able to reuse your original nut.
As an alternative, MECATECHNIC recommends ordering part no. VH27400 or VH27390.

Mecatechnic advises you not to use oil, as 80w90 type gearbox or axle oil would not be contained correctly in the gearbox, but rather grease, as none of the gears in the steering gearbox turn fast enough to require oil.
