The Alpine car brand was founded by Jean Rédélé in 1955, a motor sport enthusiast inspired by the famous mountain range, the Alps: « It was while driving through the Alps in my 4CV with a 5-speed gearbox that I had the most fun ».

The Alpine brand was revealed with the release of the original A110 in the 1960s, and collaborated with Renault to become a reference in the world of rallying in the 1970s.

In 2021, the Alpine brand enters Formula 1 with the name Alpine F1 Team and the merger of Alpine Cars, Renault Sport Cars and Renault Sport Racing. Also in 2021, the Alpine brand announced that it would devote itself exclusively to the manufacture of electric cars
