This TOOLATELIER thread repair kit, also known as "thread insert", M6 x 1.0 is used in automotive restoration.

Helical inner diameter: 5.5 mm
Helical outside diameter: 7.5 mm
Helix height: 6.6 mm

Contents:

- 1 HSS drill bit, 6.3 mm
- 1 HSS tap
- 1 helicoid placement tool
- 1 tongue cutter

I missed the first time I used it, tapping the aluminium is trickier and screwing it in, a bit of soap as a lubricant.

Great. Buy to repair a thread on the Carter of a lawnmower that holds the carburetor. I once practiced on an old engine. No great difficulty for an occasional handyman like me. The fit is now better than new
