Built from 1977 to 1986, the E23 7 Series used only inline-six petrol engines of 2.5 to 3.4 litres, most of them from the M30 family. The early 728 and 730 had twin Zenith carburettors, dropped in 1979 in favour of Bosch K-Jetronic and later Motronic injection. The 745i turbo models with the M102 and M106 peak at 252 hp, against 150 hp for the 725i. Before buying parts, use this table to find the exact version and engine code of your E23.
