The F20/F21 1 Series has sixteen versions between 2011 and 2019, all with a timing chain. Before the facelift, the petrol range relies on the N13B16 and N20B20 four-cylinders; from 2015 come the B38B15 three-cylinders and, from 2016, the B48B20. The M135i and M140i get the N55B30 and B58B30 six-cylinders with 320 and 340 hp. On the diesel side, the N47 gives way to the B37 and B47, with outputs from 95 to 224 hp. This table lets you tell these engine generations apart before ordering.
