Small roadster, big impact. Conceived by Tom Matano and inspired by the Lotus Elan, the MX-5 NA revives the forgotten recipe for the lightweight roadster: rear-wheel drive, a lively naturally aspirated engine, low weight, and near-perfect balance. Pop-up headlights, communicative steering, and a short, precise gearbox. No overpowered engines. Just pure driving feel. Mazda doesn't reinvent the sports car. It refines it. The result: the best-selling roadster of all time.
It was in 1989 that Mazda launched the great return of the Roadster with the Mazda MX5 NA. Of English inspiration and more precisely of the Lotus Elan, the MX5 NA also called Miata is of Japanese manufacture. It was in February 1989 that the Mazda MK1 was presented for the first time at the Chicago Motor Show. It was imported to France in 1990. This two-seater cabriolet with retractable headlights won over with its reliability and the sensations it provides, particularly with its acceleration. This vehicle goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. This Mazda MK1 is equipped with a 1.6l engine developing 115 hp which allows it to reach 190km/h. In 1994, this engine was then replaced by a 1.6 of 90 hp and the 1.8 130 hp made its appearance.
