Then it's time to opt for this PERTRONIX performance ignition kit, comprising :

- 1"Ignitor 1" 12-volt electronic ignition module
- 1"Flame Thrower" 40,000 volt high-performance chrome-plated coil

For VW type 1 engines ( Cox, Combi Split, Bay Window, Karmann-Ghia, Type 3, 181 )
With original BOSCH VW ignition system with high body and vacuum cap since 08/1967

ATTENTION : when connecting and installing the module, it is imperative to identify the wires in relation to the coil, otherwise the electronic module will be immediately destroyed.

This module is not suitable for original 6V igniters for models 1200 up to ->1973 (low body).

I had to lower the height of the ignition finger because the magnet was too high, being well up against it. I had to remove about 3mm before I could close the igniter properly. Otherwise, start-up OK with electronic igniter, but there are still some adjustments to be made.

Good product, it just took me a long time to get past the rubber protection between the igniter and the cable entry, which was very hard to put on, but otherwise my place was perfect.

The threads of the studs on the plate that attaches to the igniter are not metric and not compatible with the two nuts supplied. It starts to tighten, then it forces, then the two studs disengage from the plate and turn idle. Had to rebuild to replace the studs. Too bad, because once fitted they work great!
