The master cylinder is responsible for converting the pressure exerted on the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure that acts on the wheel brakes. In other words, it's the central element that "pushes" brake fluid through the lines and wheel cylinders to actuate the brakes.

This original German ATE / FTE 23.81 mm master cylinder with brake booster fits Combi Bay Window from 08/1967 to 07/1979 from chassis no. 218 000 001.

On certain assemblies, this master cylinder may require a special plug to be fitted at the end. This ATE / FTE model is drilled and tapped to accept a contactor or plug (not supplied). Please check yours before ordering, as you may need the screw ref. KH25401.
