A wheel brake cylinder is an essential component of a vehicle's braking system. Its function is to convert hydraulic pressure into mechanical force to actuate the brake pads and slow or stop the wheel.

Its main functions are as follows:

Transmission of hydraulic pressure: The brake cylinder receives pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder, which is actuated by the driver via the brake pedal.

Brake lining actuation: In a drum brake system, the wheel brake cylinder pushes the pistons which exert pressure on the brake linings. The brake linings then rub against the brake drum, generating the friction required to slow wheel rotation.

Hydraulic braking system: The brake cylinder is part of a hydraulic braking system that delivers greater braking force with less physical effort on the part of the driver.

In short, the wheel brake cylinder is crucial to the safe and effective braking of the vehicle, enabling braking force to be applied to the wheels.

This 23 mm diameter rear wheel brake slave cylinder (replaces the original 22.20mm) left or right side in German ATE / FTE quality for :

- VW Combi Split from 03/1955 to 07/1967 from chassis no. 117 902.

- VW Combi Bay Window from 08/1967 to 07/1971 up to chassis no. 211 2300 000.

- VW 181 with gearbox up to chassis no. 183 2346 524.
