From 1960 to 1975, the 404 was powered by the 1.618 L XC four-cylinder petrol engine, fed by a Solex carburettor or Kugelfischer mechanical injection, and by the gear-driven Indenor XD88 diesel. The table details five versions, including the saloon and the Pininfarina coupé and cabriolet, from 57 to 88 hp. Outputs changed over the years: the remarks give the DIN figures for each engine generation. Identify your version before looking for parts.
