Commercialized between 1995 and 2003, the series 5 E39 was considered at that time as the best BMW as standard ever designed. It was a real success, both for its design and its ergonomics recognized as ideal or for its safety. It was with this model that BMW introduced, amongst others, a sequential automatic gearbox, curtain airbags and the dual-zone automatic climate control system. Concerning the motorizations, the series 5 E39 started on the same basis than its precursor, with the six-cylinders in line of the 523i and 528i, as well as the 525td and 525tds. The V8 were also renewed on this model (3.5l and 4.4l). All the range of motorizations progressed and gained in power when the second version arrived in 2000, produced until 2003. Renowned to be a very reliable car, the BMW E39 enjoy still today a very good used car guide price.
