Details about : Lower ball joint tool for PSA

This toolalso called a notched socket will enable you to fit and remove lower ball joints on some versions of Citroën and Peugeot.

Types of versions: 405, 406, Xantia.

Use with a 35 socket or spanner.

Dimensions:

External diameter: 50.80 mm (depth without lugs 21.90 mm)
Interior diameter: 43.00 mm
Interior diameter, key groove side: 19.15 mm
4 equally spaced lugs
Height of lug: 4 mm
Width of lug: 4.95 mm

Difficulty removing a ball joint, succeeded with a great deal of difficulty because the tool turns despite the screw being tightened all the way.

A quality tool that was indispensable for disassembling the ball joints on my 406, which were too tight. But the design creates a lever arm and I had to use a gasket clamp to hold the lugs in place.

Note that you need a 35 mm bushing and, for my part, a little machining (filing) to use it with this bushing size.

The product is OK, but difficult to use because the ball joint is usually completely blocked by rust. More effective for reassembling a new ball joint without damaging it than for disassembling.

the tool broke on first use. Fortunately, Mecatechnic's customer service quickly replaced it (congratulations to them). But despite this, the tool isn't perfectly adapted to the peugeot ball joints (the teeth aren't deep enough and only take part of the ball joint).
