This TOOLATELIER steering tie rod remover, also known as axial ball joint extractor , is ideal for removing or installing internal steering tie rods with shafts from 37 to 45 mm.

Very practical, it is used to unlock and lock the axial ball joints at the end of the steering rack.
The principle is simple: the rollers grip the tie-rod axle, which is made up of flats that are not easily accessible. It automatically adjusts at the head to loosen tie-rods with diameters ranging from 37 to 45 mm.

It is used with a 27" hexagonal wrench or a 1/2" square wrench.
It has a rod length of 32 cm, open at both ends, and an external diameter of 89 mm.

Sold without connecting rod

We advise you to check the model of axial ball joint you have on your vehicle. Our tool will not work on ball joints with smooth heads.

Does not work on Renault models.

I needed a ball joint extractor for the inner ball joint of a '92 ford fiesta 3. The tool enabled me to remove the ball joint easily and put it back again just as easily. However, the ball joint must be cleaned thoroughly, especially the end that attaches to the rack, which must be free of any substance that could cause the tool to slip. In fact, I had to remove the new one because I had incorrectly fitted a brake pipe, and unfortunately the tool proved ineffective (it slipped on the new ball joint). So I had to remove it with a wrench. Fortunately, I was able to put it back in, taking care to clean it (the ball joint) and the tool tightened it to the rack, once again, with ease. I'd recommend this tool, which may only be used once, but on certain car models you can't do without it. The diameter of the tool is 35/45 mm and not 37 after a call to the service department.

Does not work on all axial ball joints, which is a pity. I had to remove the original one with pliers, but I was able to tighten the new one with the tool.

tool on the photo marked 35 / 45 but 37 / 45 for me too big because I really need 35 for the steering rod which has a diameter of 36 it does not block the piece

The tool doesn't work for 37 mm diameter ball joints, I think it works from 40 mm diameter.

I bought this product to replace the axial ball joints of an 807, whose diameter is 37mm, thus conforming to the 35/45 mm range of the tool. The tool never managed to hook on to unscrew the ball joints. I had to buy a new one (much more expensive) from a local supplier, which worked impeccably, with the same theoretical characteristics (35/45mm). I understand that, given the price, this isn't a professional range, and rightly so. But not even suitable for a single use is unacceptable.
