Revealed in 1998, the name of the Audi TT comes from the famous racing 'Tourist Trophy' which take place the island of Man in Great Britain, but also from the name of a model which participated to this racing, the NSU TTS. Thereafter the make NSU merged with Auto Union and gave birth to Audi. Resulting from a project of more than 4 years, the design of the Audi TT was one of the most influent at the end of the 1990's. With almost 169 000 sold copies in 7 years, two motorizations were available: the 4-cylinder 1.8l 20V turbo of 150 then 180hp and 225hp (Quattro) and a V6 3.2l of 250hp (the same as the one of the Golf 4 R32), arrived at the beginning of 2003. The TT was rapidly equipped with a rear spoiler in a series, in order to guarantee a better stability while it reduced its weight in high velocity thanks to its form.
