Produced from 1977 to 1995, the 928 was intended to bury the 911. With its front-mounted V8, transaxle, advanced technology, and unabashed ambition, it never replaced the icon, but it established a powerful and refined grand touring vision. Fast, stable, and comfortable: a Porsche designed by engineers for high-speed highway driving, not to pander to nostalgia.
The Porsche 928 is still one of the elite GTs on the automotive market. And for good reason, it arrived in 1978 with a 240 hp 4.5 V8 and a Weissach multi-link rear axle. Its comfort, luxury and driving pleasure have made it a reference. Quickly, the 928 will evolve, its rolling trains are so well designed that they can allow to receive even more power. It will be done in 1980, with an engine increased to 300 hp and allowing to reach 250 km/h in top speed, it is called 928 S. In 1983, with the arrival of the electronic injection, it will take the surname S2. In 1986, its look changed and the V8 got 4 valves per cylinder, it became 928 S4. This version was entitled to a Clubsport version. In 89, it will take another 10 hp by being called 928 GT, its 5.0 V8 then develops 330 hp. The ultimate Porsche 928 will arrive in 1992, the GTS. 5.4, 350 hp: wider rear fenders, more accomplished than ever, it is capable of taking you to the end of the world. The Porsche 928 is rare on our roads and is about to become a real collector!
