Window seal guide, big model for Volkswagen Beetle, Kombi & Type 3
The Type 3 appeared in 1961, when Volkswagen decided to expand its range after the success of the Beetle. Based on the same idea which was to place an engine with 4 cylinders cooled by air in rear position, it was proposed in 3 car bodies : Notchback (sedan), Fastback (Coupé) and Squareback (Estate car). The Type 3 was also called 'VW1500' in reference to its first engine ; this one was increased to reach 1600cc in 1965. The major production of the Type 3 was made in Germany in the factories of Wolfsburg and Emden (around 1.5 millions of copies), and a supplement was also produced in Brazil.
