The USA-style tail light glass for a VW Combi is a tail light model designed for versions exported to the USA, or those that have been modified to meet American safety standards. To replace the rear light glass, start by unscrewing the externally visible screws that hold the glass in place on the housing.Once the screws are removed, you can remove the old taillight lens. If the lens is cracked or broken, it can be easily removed. Be careful not to injure yourself if the lens is cracked or broken, as the plastic can be sharp.Take this opportunity to check the condition of the rear light wiring and bulbs. If bulbs are worn or defective, replace them at the same time. Make sure electrical connections are clean, solid and free from oxidation.Place the new taillight lens in the housing. Check that the mounting is correct and that the lens is secure.Once the lens has been installed, check that the rear lights are working properly: position light, brake light, turn signal and reversing light. Make sure that all functions are operational and that the lights are correctly aligned.
Please note that the installation of USA-type windows is not approved, in particular because the indicators turn red instead of orange. You could be fined by the police and no longer be accepted for roadworthiness testing.
