Engines Volkswagen Scirocco 1 et 2

The birth of the Scirocco project comes from the idea of Volkswagen to renew its range. Beetle and Karmann Ghia aging, VW is thinking about its future models.

The idea for a coupé came to Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, while he was working on the Golf project in the early 1970s. Built in collaboration with the Karmann factory, which already produced the Karman Ghia, the VW Scirocco was produced to 795,650 units between 1974 and 1992, with a restyling in 1981.

Emblematic vehicle of the brand, the third generation is presented after 6 years of absence of the name, at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008. In the meantime, it will be called Corrado parallel to the career of its sister the Golf (then in version 2, 3 then 4).
