Strength to the extent that even if you over-torque the screws, the plate will not warp. Flexibility to the extent that should the rear bottom section of your car impact with ground, the plate will not crack. If your drainage plate studs are old, they are probably rusted or damaged, and may loosen with your nuts, during disassembly Don't forget to replace them.
When you replace them, Mecatechnic recommends you lubricate the housing and you fit the new ones with a thread lock.
