This EMPI GT7 camshaft for Volkswagen type 1 engines is a reference for type 1 perfo engines from 1600cc displacement upwards.
Machined in a refrigerated foundry to EMPI specifications, GT series camshafts are Parkerized("deep" manganese phosphating) for easy running-in and high hardness.
Valve lift (exhaust and intake): 0.538" => 13.66mm at 1.1:1Cam lift: 0.430" =>10.92mmOpening time: 295°.

Original type camshaft for Bmw 3 Series:
- Compatible with Bmw 3 Series E36 Sedan from 12/1989 to 03/1994 only with 4-cylinder m40 petrol engine.
Warning! Not suitable for models 316i and 318i engine code m43.
Camshaft wear is a known problem on these models.Clattering and difficulty in revving up are the consequences of the weakness of these engines.

Synchronized with the rest of the engine by the timing belt, the camshaft controls the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. It ensures good combustion in the cylinders. Worn cams can alter the intake and exhaust cycle, leading to engine misfiring.

Please note: due to their reinforced nature, this camshaft should only be used with Web-cam tappets.
Mount the pulley on its AAC using Loctite threadlocker and tighten to torque (2.5daN). In some cases, it may be necessary to lightly grind the screw heads if they touch the oil pump body during blank assembly.
